June (Sankey) Hamby, 90, of Evansville, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
June was born in New Castle, Penn., on June 18, 1925. June enjoyed dancing and the beaches of Florida. She will be remembered for her cheerfulness and laughter. She will be sorely missed by all of her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Danny Hamby (Patty), of Evansville, Ind., Sonja Pennell (Robert), of Evansville, Ind., Bonnie Knowles (Ronald), of Newburgh, Ind., and Gary Hamby (Tracey), of Evansville, Ind.; grandchildren, Scott Hamby (Laura), Robby Pennell (Vicki), Chris Vinson, Lori Likens (Clyde), Angela Proudfoot (George) and Shawn Knowles (Missy)Brett (Kendra) Hamby;17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
June was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Jesse R. Hamby, in 1985; her mother, Bessie Ingelbretson; four sisters; and five brothers.
Private services will be held for the family.
