Elizabeth Mace Hoffman

Elizabeth Mace Hoffman was born September 30, 1922, in Craigsville, Virginia, to Abby Vera Colvin Mace and William Marshall Mace. She had five brothers and one sister.

She was married to George Tate Hoffman from New York. She resided in Waynesboro Virginia for most of her adult life and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was very active in her church. She performed many acts of charity. The one thing she loved most in the World was her family. She lived the last 18 months in an assistant living (Merrill Gardens) in Tuscaloosa Alabama. She died on Monday, November 30, 2009, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

Three daughters and their families survive her, Brenda Darlene Hoffman Hall of Mill Hall, Pennsylvania, and her son, Christopher Anthony Hall of Washington, D.C. and daughter, Sonya J. Hall and her husband, Eric Smeal, of Mill Hall, Pennsylvania, and Sonya's daughters, Abby Elizabeth and Harleigh Lee.

Carol Ann Hoffman Cole and her husband, James Walker Cole Jr. of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and their children, James Walker Cole III and his wife, Calie Cole of Birmingham, Alabama and their children, James Walker IV, Maggie Lyle, Lauren Merideth, and Bailey Jane Cole. Shelton Spencer and his wife, Leaf Oswalt Cole of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Christopher Dale Cole of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Ashley Ann Cole and husband Matthew Todd Mowry of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Shirley Elizabeth Hoffman Monroe and her husband, S. Dale Monroe, of Stuart Florida, their children, Matthew Tate Monroe of Stuart, Florida, Amy Elizabeth Monroe and her husband, John Wason of Evergreen, Colorado; and their daughter, Makayla Elizabeth Wason.

Services will be in the chapel of McDow Funeral Home 10 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009, followed by the dedication of the grave at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro, Virginia. The Presiding Bishop will be Matthew Hoy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Waynesboro Virginia.

Pallbearers will be James Walker Cole Jr., S. Dale Monroe, James W. Cole III, Christopher A. Hall, Shelton Spencer Cole, Christopher Anthony Hall, and Matthew Tate Monroe.

In lieu of flowers, please send any contributions to the Hospice in your area.
