Bobby & I were classmates grades 1-4 in Fort Worth. We reconnected thru FB & I still miss him today. What a great guy, with many interests, who loved his family.

I met Bob when he was on the air with KNOW in Austin through his friend, Doug Sutherland. Bob and I emailed frequently and visiting with him online melted the miles between Austin and Olympia, WA, where I live. Bob couldn't praise his wife, Lisa, enough and was always sharing how happy he was with her. Bob took the best picture I have of my oldest daughter, Michelle. She was 9 months old, sitting on his desk and looking up into his camera lens. He caught her at just the right moment with twinkling eyes and the beginning of a smile. That was 46 years ago. Bob was a great guy. I loved his laugh. Blessings to his family, Jean E. Svadlenak Arnevick

How sad can a human being get after knowing of the passing of a person whom he has never met in person?
Well I am very sad after finding out that Bob is SK.
I met him trough the radio and became his friend trough the radio.
It was an honor and a pleasure for me to have served in the HWN next to K5SIV.
My sincere condolences to the Botik family.
Bob we will miss you. May God bless you.
73's my friend.

Hello Lisa, I had the sincere pleasure of meeting Bob by way of amateur radio in 1999. I've had the pleasure of working with him as a member of both the Hurricane Watch Net and Maritime Mobile Service Network. Bob's commanding presence on the air was unique in that his voice was both calming and reassuring to anyone caught in an emergency situation.
I know Bob joined the Hurricane Watch Net in 1993. Everyone who has known Bob realize the countless hours and days he gave in helping people in Hurricane prone areas. I'm recall stories from our members telling of the hours and days he work after Hurricane Mitch made landfall in 1998 with relief efforts in Honduras. He was there to assist bush pilots in getting to and from their destinations. With Maritime Mobile Service Net, I know he worked on numerous rescues at sea. If anyone should be called a “Humanitarian”, it was Bob.
Bob will be sorely missed. And please know you and your family are being lifted up in prayer during this time.
If there is anything I can do, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Bobby Graves

Lisa, while you and I have never met, Bob always spoke fondly of you. I'm sure you two shared a very special bond!

Lisa, I never had the honor to personally meet Bob, but through the years via our mutual interests in ham radio, photography, gardening, and other highlights too numerous to mention, I came to admire him like my own brother.
I am saddened to hear of his passing; it must have been a secret signal which caused me to search his name on line just today, after recently sharing with Barbara, my wife, that I felt something must have been wrong with Bob. I last heard from him a few weeks ago as he was so proud to tell me of his pleasures with his new Camera. At that time he was also saying how eager he was to get back to his office up stairs so he could enjoy his interests in comfort. It is so sad that I just happened upon this very unfortunate news.
God bless you and your family. From Bob's most high praise of you over the years, I can only know that he loved you very much, and he felt so lucky to have you.
I personally will truly miss the frequent correspondence and inspirational interaction with a dear friend. If there is anything I might be able to do, please do not hesitate to contact me ([email protected]). I failed to see any reference to a preferred charity for a donation in Bob's name.
