A memorial service for Beverly Ann Burkins, of Burleson, Texas will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at The Uprising Church, 1733 Conveyor Dr. in Joshua.
Beverly Ann Burkins took her first steps in Heaven on October 28, 2025, at the age of 87. Though our hearts ache from missing her, we rejoice knowing she's finally home with Jesus-the One she loved and served all her life.
Beverly was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on January 30, 1938, to William Lee Cagle and Iva Marie Edmundson. Her childhood was an adventure; she and her three brothers lived in more towns than most people could count, traveling along Route 66 as their family searched for work and new beginnings. By the time she was grown, she had attended more than twenty schools! Somewhere along the way, during one of those many moves, she met Joe, the love of her life. The two were married on January 31, 1962, in Phoenix, Arizona, and their story together was full of love, laughter, and ministry.
Beverly worked hard all her life, holding many different jobs including serving as a telephone operator for Ma Bell, but the role she treasured most was being a mom. Her two children, Charita and Gary, were her greatest joy.
Beverly gave her heart to Jesus when she was just five years old and never stopped walking with Him. Ministry was part of her life from the very beginning. As a teenager, she helped lead youth groups, and later she and Joe became Children's Evangelists, traveling across the metroplex to lead week-long "Kids Crusades." When her children were grown, the Lord called her deeper still. She earned her Exhorter's License through the Church of God International and began preaching in prisons all across Texas, sharing hope with those who needed it most.
Together, Bev and Joe started Victory Fellowship, where she pastored and he proudly called himself "the pastor's wife." Their teamwork and love for people left an imprint that continues to this day.
In 2001, God opened a new door for Beverly at Huguley Hospital, where she served as Staff Chaplain for more than thirteen years. She found her sweet spot there bringing peace, laughter, and prayer into rooms that needed all three. Her smile could brighten even the darkest day.
Later in life, Beverly bought several homes she lovingly called "God Houses"; places where people could find help, hope, and a fresh start. One of those homes is now a Discipleship House for men coming out of prison, a ministry that continues to see lives changed every single day.
Beverly lived her life fully and faithfully, determined to honor God with every breath. Her legacy shines on through her children, grandchildren, and the many people whose lives she touched with her kindness and faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marie Cagle; her brothers, Ron and Glenn Cagle; and her beloved husband, Joe Burkins. She is survived by her brother Bill Cagle of Waco, Texas; her daughter Charita Calvetti of Phoenix, Arizona; and her son Gary Burkins and wife Noemi of Burleson, Texas.
Beverly also leaves behind five grandsons-Jason Gain, Alex Burkins, Ryan Burkins, Thaxton Calvetti, and Kingston Calvetti-and nine great-grandchildren: Genesis Gain, Journey Gain, Zariyah Gain, Porter Burkins, Campbell Burkins, Rhodes Burkins, Sterling Burkins, Silas Burkins, and Noah Burkins.
Beverly's laughter, prayers, and faith will echo in our hearts forever. She ran her race well, and we're grateful to know she's home; whole, happy, and held in the arms of her Savior.
