James R. "Randy" Flatt was born March 4, 1955 in Stantonville, TN, the son of the late James Lester Flatt and Helen Marie Fletcher Flatt. He departed this life on December 21, 2023 in Stantonville, Tennessee at the age of 68 Years, 9 Months, 17 Days.
Randy was united in marriage to Mary Hornbuckle on April 19, 1973. He was a retired minister who started preaching and singing on the radio as a teen. He had a passion for sharing the Gospel and playing his guitar. He was a former member of the Tennessee River Boys Gospel Group. He was the minister at Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church retiring in 1994. After which he filled in at various churches.
Randy also worked as a Shipping Clerk for Ripley Industries in Adamsville, TN and worked there 32 years before retiring. He served as a Sergeant in the Tennessee National Guard for many years.
He was a man that loved the Lord, his family and his country. He had a friendly spirit and never met a stranger.
Randy is survived by his wife, Mary Flatt of Stantonville, TN; two sisters, Deborah Marie Pearson of Millington, TN, Sherry Flatt of Michie, TN; two brothers, Gary Flatt of Michie, TN, Brian Flatt and wife Deneen of Michie, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Flatt was preceded in death by a son, Allan Flatt in 1996; and a brother, Kenneth Flatt.
