Donald Worth Farmer Sr.

Donald Worth Farmer, Sr. Donald Worth Farmer, Sr., age 70, of Manassas Park, passed away September 21st, 2010 at the Prince William Hospital.

Born October 5th, 1939 in McDowell County, W.Va., he was the son of Thomas and Opal Phillips Farmer. On March 29th, 1966 in Washington, D.C., he married the former Mary Boswell, who survives.

Mr. Farmer worked for J.E. Hurley Machine and Boiler Works for over 26 years. He also worked for Fairfax County for over 11 years as a welder. He was a member of the Local Boilermaker Union, and was a drag racer at Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Doug Farmer, Dennis Farmer and Billy Farmer; and two sisters, Betty Jones and Doris Sadler. Surviving besides his loving wife of 44 years are two daughters, Donna J. Smith and her husband, Ronnie of Manassas Park and Karen Griffith and her husband, Buck also of Manassas Park; one son, Donald W. Farmer, Jr. and his wife, Tammy of Manassas Park; four sisters, Mildred Davis of West Virginia; Patsy Cunningham and her husband, Rickey of Alexandria; Carol Mainer and her husband, Gary of Alexandria and Barbara Norton and her husband, Bill of North Carolina; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews that adored him.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 24th, 2010 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 25th, 2010 at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with interment taking place a later date.
