FAHRNEY, Charles Edward, 89 of Harrisonburg, Va., died September 28, 2010. He was born March 18, 1921, the son of the late Lester Bryan and Viola Stark Fahrney. He was a salesman for American Tobacco Company in Durham, N.C. before retiring. He was a member of the Lutheran church. He was a 32nd degree Mason with Mt. Jackson Lodge 103, and a Blue Lodge member. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Sara Matthews. Surviving are sons, Matthew Fahrney of Frisco, Texas, Jimmie Haun Fahrney of Douglasville, Ga., and Charles Edward Fahrney Jr. of Morristown, Tenn.; brother, Merlin L. Fahrney of Broadway; his companion, Juanita Hughes of Harrisonburg; and four grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Harrisonburg. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway. Memorial contributions may be made to Broadway Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 666, Broadway, Va. 22815.
