Jay and I were also friends in high school. I have many fond memories of Jay. I remember spending hours upon hours watching him skateboard. He taught me about what good music was. I can still remember his bill the cat expression, which made me laugh every time. With his quick wit and wonderful sense of sarcasm, he was the highlight of many of my high school days. We also got the opportunity to reconnect in the last few years. I am so saddened to hear he is gone but grateful to have known him. My thoughts are with you all.

Words cannot say how I feel today as I write about Jay, he was my supervisor at Ft Jackson, a true professional. To his family, my thoughts and prayers go out to you at this time... He will be missed.

I worked with Jay in TDD at Fort Jackson several years ago. I remember him as a quiet professional. He reminded me a lot of my oldest brother and I think I was drawn to him because of that. Jay was always friendly and very proud of his family. I'm truly sorry for your loss Kim and Will. You are both in my thoughts and prayers for comfort. Nicole Fredrickson (Salt Lake City, Utah)

Donna, Kevin and Bobby...

My heart goes out to you in this painful time. Jay was a great guy! When he was a crazy teenager we had lots of good times..he worked for me when he was young and trying to figure out what he wanted to do with his life. I remember when he first started talking about joining the Army and I was so happy to see him when he visited me in full uniform looking so handsome and proud of his accomplishments.
To read about his achievements, it is obvious how proud you must be. I am so sorry for your loss and hope that like me , you will dwell on all the times of laughter he brought you. He touched my life in a way I will never forget.

Jay was a good friend to my son, Steve all through high school. My husband and I affectionately referred to Jay as "Eddie Haskle" because he was such a nice boy. We always enjoyed having him in our home and he vacationed at the beach with our family one year. What a wonderful man he became, my heart goes out to his family. I am so sorry for your loss.

I know he will be greatly missed - my condolences to your entire family, I pray for your strength as you heal.

Jay befriended me in high school, and remained one of my closest friends into our twenties. He was consistantly a great and true friend to me, and to this day remains one of my biggest personal influences. We unfortunately did lose touch into adulthood, going different paths, but through social media we had a chance to reconnect recently, and it was great to connect with him again, and hear of his achievements. My prayers go out to his family. He will be greatly missed, and fondly remembered by myself and all who have been his friends throughout the years.

Jay and I met as teens at the kid hangout and dance club, Cellar Door . We remained good friends throughout our teen years and 20s. I have a lot of good memories of Jay. I was pleased to reconnect with him a few years ago and I am sad to see him go. My condolences to the family, as well.
