Charles Grant Mann, age 95, of Jacksonville, passed peacefully on March 17th, 2024. Charles was born to George Frederick and Stella Catherine (Hilchey) Mann in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. He grew up in Sydney and married his sweetheart of 75 yrs, Phyllis MacPherson and moved to Toronto at the age of 19. It was there that Charles began his career in aviation, training to become an Aircraft mechanic for De Haviland Aircraft Company. While a mechanic, Charles' career saw him to great heights, and foreign lands- sending him as far as Greenland, and India, and even to Tibet, where he helped display the capabilities of the De Haviland Beaver aircraft to customers. He became a successful sales manager for the company until the De Havilland ceased production of the Beaver in 1967. Charles moved his family to Vero Beach, Florida, where he worked for Piper Aircraft. He later moved to Winter Park, where he began a 2nd career in insurance sales. In 1979, Charles moved back to Canada, where he built a home on a 100 acre property and continued to sell life insurance for Canada Life. In 1990 he moved to Jacksonville and then Daytona for 10 years where kept himself busy working for the local Home Depot. Charles loved his work and was a great provider for his family. Charles' four children say he was the gentlest, kindest, most loving father a child could hope for. He will be deeply missed.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis M. C. Mann and his grandson, Roger D. Causseaux II.
He is survived by three daughters, Margie Rockenbach of Elkton; Janet Causseaux and husband Roger of Clemmons, NC; Joyce Roediger, and husband Larry of Vero beach; his son, Grant Mann, and wife Wendy of Sebastian, Fl; brother, Stephen Mann, and wife Alice of Kingston, Ontario; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
Private Services will be held.
