David Arwin Dettman, 62, of Evansville, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 1, 2022 in Toccoa, Georgia. He was born May 30, 1960 in Sturgeon Bay, WI to the late Arwin and Evelyn (Weckler) Dettman.
David graduated from Sevastapol High School in Sturgeon Bay, WI. He ran his own cleaning service in Wisconsin. Since 1986, he worked as a professional truck driver. He was employed by Koester Milk Transport for the last 5 years and everybody called him the "Milk Man". Most recently he started working for Smith Transfer in May 2022. David was a huge Green Bay Packers fan, aka "a cheesehead." David was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and vacationing with his wife to visit extended family across the country.
David is survived by his wife of 11 years, Lisa (Brenner) Dettman; stepdaughter, Kristen (Jonathan) Gluff; stepson, Samuel Sutton; grandsons, Caden and Cyrus due in July 2022; brother, Tim (Yuka) Dettman, of South Pasadena, CA; sister, Barb (Chris) Tlachac of Wisconsin; and nieces, nephews and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Steckler in 2005.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2022 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 N. Stockwell Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at
10:00 a.m. with Father Zach Etienne officiating. The funeral service will be livestreamed online at www.ziemerfuneralhome.com and can be accessed by clicking the Photos and Videos tab on David's tribute page.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
