Dorothy Ann (nee Slaughter) Meyer passed away on September 8, 2022, at Buehler Home in Peoria, Illinois.
Dorothy was born on November 20, 1927, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Lafayette J. Slaughter and Florence M. Rager. She married Clifford J. Meyer on June 17, 1950.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 72 years, Clifford; her daughter Marjorie (Fred) Ackermann of St. Charles MO; James C. (Elizabeth) Meyer of Houston, Texas; Donald R. (Julie) Meyer of Richfield Minnesota; and Thomas E. (Teresa) Meyer of St. Louis, Missouri.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren Julie Treadman, Barbara (Brett) Meeske, Laura Meyer (Byron Garcia), Allison Meyer (Simon Brauer), David Meyer, Stephanie Meyer (Paul Chomjantr), Christina Meyer and Nicholas Meyer. In addition, there are two great grandchildren, Ava Meeske and Evan Meeske.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, one sister – Helen Daglas, and two brothers – Robert and James Slaughter.She attended the University of Cincinnati where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority.
Dorothy was a Teacher's Aide in the Title 1 program at Blaine Sumner School for fifteen years. She retired in 1986.
A private family prayer service will take place on a future date followed by inurnment of ashes at Resurrection Columbarium.Memorials can be sent to St. Philomena Catholic Church; 1000 West Albany Avenue; Peoria IL 61604 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
