Earl Mortashed Jr. Obituary
Earl Victor Mortashed Jr., beloved husband of Sandra (Noes) Mortashed, peacefully passed away at the age of 83 on July 3, 2024, in the comfort of his home with his wife and daughters by his side. He was born on June 25, 1941, in Dearborn County, Indiana, to parents Earl Victor Sr. and Dorothy Marie Mortashed. Vic, as he was affectionately known, lived a fulfilling life centered around his family and passions.
Vic began working in the auto body field at Baker-Reedy Ford in Harrison, Ohio, before he became the proud owner-operator of Vic's Auto Body in West Harrison, which operated for 25 years. Vic loved working on cars, and his talent and dedication to his craft were unmatched. His stunning pink and white 1955 Ford Crown Victoria was a testament to his expertise in car restoration, as it was a top award winner at many car shows over the years.
Vic's creativity and meticulous attention to detail were not limited to his profession. He envisioned and created a beautiful family home in which he took great pride. He loved working outdoors and kept the yard and landscaping in immaculate condition. Vic had a love for music and enjoyed playing the guitar. He was a jokester with a quick wit and always had something funny to say to make those around him laugh and smile.
Vic had a big heart and a kind soul, and he deeply loved his family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he loved spending time with them. He adored and spoiled his precious kitties: Snoopy, Rusty, and the late Casey.
Vic left a wonderful legacy with his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Sandy; daughters: Paula (Al Cooper) Losekamp-Cooper and Deborah "Debbie" (Dale Schlensker) Gafner; cherished grandchildren: Robert Victor (Priscilla) Losekamp, Mark (Michelle) Losekamp, Kelly (Emily) Livingston and Austin (Samantha) Gafner; great-grandchildren: twins Archie and Emma Gafner, Reese Gafner and Theodosia Quinn Livingston; siblings: Shirley Harvey, June Brown, Jackie Broadway, Jeffrey Mortashed and Hal (Gigger) Williams. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Earl Victor Sr. and Dorothy Marie Mortashed; siblings: Merle Mortashed, Esther Ruch, Glenda Wheeler, Ramona Helms and Harold (Chip) Williams; and his beloved first grandson, Kyle Gafner.
Visitation will be on Saturday, July 6, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m., with words of remembrance and a blessing beginning at 6 p.m.
The family requests memorial donations to Kyle's Hope, which holds a mission to help those in addiction recovery. Donations may made during the visitation with a funeral home representative.
