Eleanor was the beloved wife to the late Joseph Holden, and daughter to the late Joseph and Isabella Woods.
She is survived by her loving children Eleanor Holden (Scott), Joseph Holden (Theresa), Donna Hellmann (Lawrence), Thomas Holden (Elizabeth) and Linda McNamee (John), as well as her 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Eleanor was born and raised in Philadelphia. The youngest of three children, Eleanor was preceded in death by her loving sister, Mary and brother, Joseph. Eleanor graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls in 1953. Eleanor met her future husband at a high school dance, becoming high school sweethearts and were inseparable until Joe's passing in 2003. Together they raised 5 children in the Olney and Normandy sections of the city. Eleanor devoted her life to raising her children with the utmost care, compassion and love. Eleanor was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Eleanor was a true matriarch of the family. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 8:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 19075 Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154. Her funeral mass will take place at 11:00 AM at St. Martha Church, 11301 Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154. Her interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
In lieu of sending flowers, contributions in Eleanor's name may be made to The Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament @ katharinedrexel.org.
