Ernest Harmon "Ernie" McFadden Sr.

Ernest "Ernie" Harmon McFadden, Sr. found his perfect golf swing on August 10, 2024, when he peacefully passed away in his home in Blaine, Minnesota, surrounded by his family. Ernie was a cherished husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather, papa, and a friend to many.
Ernie was born and raised in Glen Robins, Ohio, one of 8 children. After graduating from Warren Consolidated High School, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Air Force, reaching the rank of Staff Sargent. While stationed in Taiwan, he met his wife and the mother of his three children, Lee-Ming, who preceded him in death in 2012.
After leaving the Air Force, Ernie went on to attend Central Connecticut State College, earning his Bachelor's degree while working for 3M in Connecticut. He then moved his family to Minnesota to further his career with 3M in St. Paul. After approximately 28 years with 3M, Ernie's career path brought him to follow his passion of financial and investment planning. Ernie loved his business and his clients, and continued working with Legacy Wealth Management at UBS Financial until his death.
In 2016, Ernie and his wife, Kathleen "Kathy" (Plombon) Raye, moved to Naples, Florida, and officially became Floridians. It is between sunny FL and their place in MN that they shared ten years of love and adventure, enjoying traveling, golfing, walking on the beach, and watching sunsets from the lanai, Ernie's "happy place" prior to his passing.
No one could argue that spending time with his family and playing golf were two of his greatest joys.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Winfred Earl McFadden, and Minnie Bonecutter McFadden; brother, Kenneth Hooper, and sisters, Patty Carpenter and Judy Jackson. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy; children, Ernie Jr. (Stacey), Barbara McFadden Kraemer (Dave), and Steve; siblings, Sherman (Mabel) McFadden, Terry (Suella), John and Kathy Jo McFadden; and step-children, Alisha (Joe) Thompson and Brandon (Jenny) Plombon. He leaves behind a grandson, Dominic McFadden (Ann), step-grandchildren, Jordan, Blaike, Brandon Jr., Rylee, Jaxon; and a great-grandson, Harley.
A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 11 AM with visitation starting at 10 AM at Washburn McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd. N.W.
