Obituary
Gloria Jean Dickens, age 82, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023. Gloria was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Robert Oliphant and Margaret Elizabeth Wade on September 20, 1940.
Gloria enjoyed crafting which included quilting, sewing, and scrapbooking. Another joy she had was chatting with her friends in the "Golden Girls" and "Go Girls" groups. Gloria graduated from George Peabody College with a degree in Education. After raising her sons, she returned to school and began her career as a computer programmer for the State of Tennessee. Gloria's favorite role was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her gentle and kind spirit will be missed.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Robert Q. Dickens. She is survived by her sons Wayne Dickens and Chris Dickens, three grandchildren Matthew, Bryce, and Drew, her brother Robert "Bob" Oliphant, best friends Virginia Williams and Deanna Waldron, and her fur baby Bisquit.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 3:30pm-7pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. An additional visitation will begin at 12pm on Friday, April 14, 2023, with a funeral service beginning in the Chapel at 1pm. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville.
