Joseph Michael DeAngelis, known affectionately as Butch to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, at Atlanticare hospital in Galloway, NJ. Born on June 28, 1946, in Brooklyn, NY, Joe led a life characterized by dedication, warmth, and an enduring love for his family. He was a man who brought light into the lives of all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
Joe's journey began in Brooklyn, where his sense of community and hard work were instilled at an early age. His career as an electrician with the IBEW Local 3 spanned over many decades, during which he not only mastered his craft but also formed lasting friendships and a reputation for being incredibly selfless and generous.
At the heart of Joe's world was his beloved wife, Nora DeAngelis (née Arangio), with whom he shared a loving partnership that was the bedrock of their family. Together, they raised their children, Joseph and Donna, teaching them the values of love, respect, and the importance of family. Joe's family grew to include his daughter-in-law, Lisa DeAngelis, and-son-in-law David Ouimette, who he welcomed into the family with open arms and an open heart.
Joe's role as a grandfather was one of his greatest joys. His grandchildren, Joseph, Thomas, Laurel, and Matthew, will forever treasure the memories of their grandfather's unwavering support and the countless hours spent watching classic films, sharing stories, and cheering on the New York Rangers and New York Giants. Joe's passion for photography and history often found his way into his storytelling, captivating the imaginations of his grandchildren.
Surviving Joe is his sister, Gloria Capo, who shared a lifetime of memories and a special bond with her brother. His brother, Frank DeAngelis, predeceased him, but the memories they created together continue to live on through the stories told by Joe and his family.
To know Joe was to know a man who was genuinely loving and generous, a man whose legacy will be carried forward by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His laughter, wisdom, and gentle spirit will be remembered by all as they reflect on a life well-lived and a man well-loved.
As we bid farewell to Joseph Michael DeAngelis, we do so with many heavy hearts with gratitude for the time we were given with him. His memory will be cherished, his stories retold, and his love felt forevermore. Joe's life was a beautiful portrait of the things that matter most--family, friendship, and the joy of shared experiences. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those he touched.
