ENOSBURG FALLS– It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Larry A. Green, age 76, after a valiant fight with cancer. He passed on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home.
He was born on February 1, 1946 to the late Ruth (Young) and Richard I Green Sr.
Larry grew up in Enosburg on his family’s farm working side by side with his 6 younger siblings, instilling a remarkable work ethic at a young age. He graduated from Enosburg Falls High School in 1964 and his love of trucking grew deeper as he continued working at the farm hauling corn feed to other farms. With the purchase of his own big rig, he continued his love of trucking for Richard Green Trucking for over 40 years. During those years, he enjoyed his morning chats with his nephew Brian to catch up on the latest news, trucking, football, and racing stories. One of his routes included delivering to QST for over 20 years where he made lifelong friends, Mike Jenkins, and Pete Hemingway.
He married Darlene Lawyer Dragon on May 17, 2003, and the two enjoyed spending time going for rides, traveling, going out to eat, spending time with Darlene’s parents, and visiting with friends and family. He loved tinkering and was mechanically inclined and spent countless hours working on and restoring antique tractors with the help of his friend Alan Vaillancourt. Larry was also a devoted NASCAR fan – he loved watching, cheering on, and attending all racing events! He also looked forward to attending the Franklin County Field Days, and driving the float for the Dairy Princesses in the June Dairy Day Parade every year.
Larry will be remembered for his incredible work ethic, his unassuming comical ways, his kind heart, and his strong will, even as he faced life’s hardest obstacles.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 20 years, Darlene Green of Enosburg Falls; daughter, Wendy Reiger & Kenneth of CA; beloved grandchildren who he was incredibly proud of, Dalton, Aspen, and Peyton; siblings, Sally Duffy of Swanton, Jayne Carpenter & George of Enosburg, Becky Demar & Brian Brooker of Franklin, Rick Green & Liz of St. Albans, Nancy Kane & Tom of Sheldon, and Debbie Campbell & James of Swanton; siblings-in-law, Donna Young & Gary, Debbie Curtis & Asa, Larry Lawyer & Cynthia, and Lee Lawyer & Theresa; many nieces and nephews; and especially his great niece and nephew, Alex and Clinton Green. Besides his parents, Larry was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Donald & Pauline Lawyer; brother-in-law, Robert Duffy, and Lane Lawyer.
To honor his love of animals, for those who wish contributions in Larry’s memory may be made to the Franklin County Animal Rescue, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans City, VT 05478.
