Lawrence (Larry) Doth of Minneapolis, MN passed away on April 16, 2024 from respiratory failure. He was born in Massena, New York on July 29, 1935 and lived there until high school graduation in 1954.
Larry served four years of active duty and four years in the reserve of the US Air Force. Following his deployment to Japan, he was assigned to an Air Force radar site outside of Wadena, MN. Here he met Julie, his wife of 64 years. In 1965 Larry earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from North Dakota State University and began building super computers for Control Data in Minneapolis. He enjoyed his job for thirty years.
Known as a French gentleman, Larry was kind, easy going and had a reputation for his very firm handshake. His faith was important ro him as was his family and extended family. He often shared excitement over others personal success and gave hope in disappointments.
In his retirement he looked forward to summer gardening, challenging the short Minnesota growing season by experimenting with new varieties of produce. Winter months were often spent in Tucson, AZ making new friends and improving his golf game. Woodworking projects were always done with precision. Time ws given freely to friends and neighbors as well as to boy scouting programs and church needs. Larry considered being an eight years volunteer courier for the National Bone Marrow organization (now called Be the Match) a privilege and valued every opportunity to transport life saving bone marrow from a donor to a recipient; many times outside of the USA.
Larry left his family with the gift of unlimited memories and with hearts of gratitude for the life he lived. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Chavarria; his parents Robella & Alphonse Doth, and sister, Imelda Kellison. He is survived his wife Julie, daughter Stephanie (Dave) Ostwald of Fridley; son Jeffrey (Elayne) of Landrum, South Carolina; son-in-law Jose Chavarria of Fridley; and nine grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Bridget's North Side.
Mass of Christian Burial Friday, May 3, 11 AM with a visitaiton 1 hour prior to Mass at St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church, 9600 Regent Avenue North, Brooklyn Park. Military Honors and Luncheon to follow after Mass.
Private interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
