Mark Tenney Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 3, 2023.
Mark Harold Tenney, beloved son, brother, companion, and friend, was suddenly taken from this earthly life on 9/30/2023. Born 7/1/1957 in Sacramento, California, Mark joined the Air Force in 1980 and spent 24 years supporting military personnel at various locations, reaching the rank of Master Sergeant. Mark was very proud of his military service, though as anyone that knew Mark could tell you, they were both the best of times and the worst of times. Mark could regale you with many stories, still being able to give the names of buddies he served with over 30 years ago.
Choosing to retire from the Air Force in Wellington, Colorado, Mark soon found his calling at The Home Depot in Fort Collins where he worked as the Master Plumber for over 18 years. Diligent and very hard working, Mark enjoyed helping his customers figure out the best and most code compliant way to implement their projects. As a result, he has many loyal DIYers. The Home Depot and its customers have lost an amazing asset.
In his personal life Mark enjoyed gardening, camping, fly fishing, picture framing, cooking, and most recently taking classes to learn how to do portraits in pencil – always working to get the correct proportions and expressions which still eluded him. He was always working hard to maintain and improve the home he loved so much. And of course, there were his cars – Porsches (make sure and pronounce the uh!) and Mini Coopers that he also loved.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Harold Tenney, and his stepfather, Robert Lammers. He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Tenney Lammers (Los Gatos, CA), Auntie Marilynn and Ken (Sacramento), his sister Debbi Holmerud (Mark), Brothers Scott (Laura) and Dave (Sandy), and many nieces and nephews in his large California family. His many-numbered Colorado friends are grieving, as well, at the sudden loss of this loyal and loving man.
There is no way to adequately describe this outgoing and gregarious man. He could light up a room and chat up anyone without hesitation. The world is dimmer and duller without him.
A celebration of Mark's life and his dedicated service to the military will be held on October 21, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Allnutt Funeral Home, 650 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO.

I knew Mark for a number of years at the Home Depot. We had a lot in common. A very helpful guy who wasn't afraid to offer his opinion on plumbing and life.
We were Veterans so we had that in common as well as the usual aches and pains from living life large. He was a car guy too and when I heard of his accident it was like no way, that didn't happen. He passed doing what he loved, driving his Porsche. I will always remember a happy Mark with an infectious smile and helpful attitude. Rest in peace my friend and fellow Vet.

In Loving Memory of Mark Tenney

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark, a cherished companion and friend of our nice MaryAnn Crosby. Mark who touched the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. We remember Mark through the lens of the unexpected meeting at Norm Crosby's funeral, where he was introduced to us by Norm's sister, MaryAnn. From that very moment, we felt an instant connection to Mark, and it was easy to recognize the kindness and warmth that radiated from his very being.

Mark's companionship with MaryAnn was a source of great joy and happiness to both of them. Their love and friendship were a testament to the beautiful spirit that resided within Mark. Together, they brought out the best in each other, creating a bond that was truly special and heartwarming.

The sudden and tragic ending of Mark's journey has left an indelible void in our hearts. The pain of his departure is a wound that will forever remind us of the incredible person he was. Though he may be gone, his memory will live on, etched in our hearts and minds, a constant presence in our thoughts and prayers.

To Mark's family, friends, and loved ones, we extend our deepest condolences during this difficult time. May you find solace in the precious memories you shared with him, for Mark's spirit will continue to live on in your hearts. As we say our final farewell, let us remember the light he brought into our lives and hold onto the love and warmth he bestowed upon us all.

Rest in peace, dear Mark. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

With heartfelt sympathy,
The Crosby Family
