Michael W. Beuchert, age 75 passed peacefully after an extended battle with Multiple Myeloma and Lewy Body Syndrome. He was born in Erie on September 25, 1946, a son of the late Edwin and Thelma (Winschell) Beuchert.
After serving his country with the US Navy intelligence during the Vietnam War he further devoted his life to service. Michael graduated from Gannon University with a bachelor's degree in business. He then took great pride in being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to countless others, always putting their needs in front of his own.
Professionally, Michael served as a partner at the Loesel-Schaaf Insurance Agency where he earned numerous professional certifications including CLU, LUTCF, and CLTC. He considered his co-workers and clients as part of his family.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church for over 50 years where he served as a member of the finance committee, parish council, and athletic board.
In his spare time, Michael was an avid runner who enjoyed running 5K and 10K races whenever possible. He played golf often and participated in weekly rounds at Lake Shore Country Club with the senior men's league. He was a lover of all things Cleveland sports and could talk about the Browns and Indians all day. His family never missed a dinner when Michael made his homemade spaghetti and meatballs. Most of all, though, Michael enjoyed being Papa to his grandchildren
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Judy Wood and nephew Mark Wood.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary T. (Bowes) Beuchert; his children, Elizabeth Marshall, husband Robert of Matthews, NC, John Beuchert, fiancée, Melanie Brewer of Erie and Maureen O'Brien and Kevin Matan of Pittsburgh, and grandchildren, Lilli Beuchert, Lydia Beuchert, and Alexander O'Brien. Also surviving are his sister-in-law Maggie Bowes, brothers-in-law, Johnny Bowes and Patrick Bowes, a nephew Charles Wood and niece Lori Melton.
He is also survived by his extended family of the incredibly devoted staff at St. Mary's Asbury Ridge whose professionalism and compassion will never be forgotten.
Due to current COVID concerns a private funeral mass and burial will be held. A celebration of Michael's life will be announced at a later date. Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street is assisting with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the James E. Mantyla Benevolent Care Fund, 1781 West 26th Street Erie, PA 16508 or the American Brain Foundation, 201 Chicago Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55415. Condolences may be sent at www.bruggerfuneralhomes.com
