Michael Cooper Daugherty

Michael Cooper Daugherty, 45, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 23, 2023. He was born on February 24, 1978, to Elizabeth Cooper Daugherty and Ronald Paul Daugherty in Ohio County, WV. A high achiever in school, he graduated with honors from John Marshall High School in WV, Wake Forest University, and Le Cordon Bleu Pennsylvania Culinary Institute. He went on to enjoy a rewarding career as a professional chef. Michael will be remembered as a humble person and faithful Christian who demonstrated patience and compassion. More than anything he was a devoted Dad who loved to play with his daughter and niece. Michael is preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents. Surviving are the light of his life, his daughter, Mattie June Daugherty; parents, Ronald and Elizabeth Daugherty; sister, Caroline Daugherty; aunt and uncle, Jane and John Lewis; niece, Ruby Whipkey; numerous extended family members, and many friends. A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Michael on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at East of Texas in Winston-Salem. The inurnment will take place in West Virginia at a later date.
