Percy Phillips Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 14, 2023.
Percy Lee Phillips, age 75, went to be with our Lord and Savior on August 12, 2023, in his home surrounded by his family and friends.
Percy was born on October 3, 1947 in Johnston County to the late Melvin Joshua and Annie Repsie Hales Phillips. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary "Esther" O'mara, Sadie Mae Bissette, Clentis Rose Capps, and, Hilda Sue Creech; brothers Melvin "Vernon," Nelson Eugene and Donald Wayne Phillips.
Percy resided in Garner, North Carolina with his loving wife of 57 years Rebecca Bradford Phillps. He is also survived by his two children and their family, Tonya Phillips Disorbo and her husband, Jim of Garner, along with their two children Ryan Joseph, and Sarah Marie Disorbo of Garner, NC, and Eric Lee Phillips and his wife, Mandy Moss Phillips along with their 7 children, Daniel Lee, Callie Deanne, Wyatt Moss, Titus Joshua, Judson Andrew, Isaiah Franklin, and Caleb Benjamin Phillips all from Okeechobee, Florida.
Also surviving are his brother, Joseph Hillary Phillips and his wife, Linda, and his sister, Linda Faye Blackley, and many nieces and nephews.
Percy enjoyed spending time with his family, and his church family where he was always willing to help others. He never missed an opportunity to invite someone to church or spread the word of God anywhere he went. Some of his most cherished memories were fishing at the Snead's pond with his grandchildren when they came home for vacation. Percy also leaves behind his two dogs who he loved dearly.
Percy worked in management at Winn Dixie for 17 years and Piggly Wiggly for 5 years. Later went on to work as a food broker where he retired in 2013 from Advantage Sales & Marketing.
The family would like to thank everyone that has cared lovingly for our family to include all of the visits, food and prayers.

It was my pleasure to have worked with Percy during his tenure with Advantage Sales and Marketing. We had both some challenging but mostly rewarding times in the period we shared. Percy was a hard working and dedicated individual that also became a good friend. Percy was well known, well liked, and respected by his customers and co-workers alike. His struggle of late is now over and he is now at peace, and I wish comfort and peace to Beckie, his family, and all of use that have lost a friend and confidant. Godspeed and God Bless to you Percy!

To the family, was so sorry to hear of the passing of a dear friend and work associate in Percy. May God bless you all in the days and weeks ahead. I worked with Percy for a number of years at Advantage Sales (CMN). Percy was a kind and thoughtful and gentle soul. Just know the peace of God as Percy is in his presence.
God bless you all Sincerely
Ed Parham
