Peter L. Jacobson Jr., 62, of Mashpee, passed away peacefully at Brigham and Womens Hospital on April 25, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl Jacobson and son of Elsie Jacobson and the late Peter L. Jacobson, Sr.
Growing up in Mashpee, Peter and his siblings had an idyllic childhood, always on the water or in the woods, surrounded by friends and close family, uncles, aunts and cousins.
Peter has never been one to sit around- unless he was telling you a funny story! He loved the outdoors and appreciated the natural environment. Peter was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycles and just simply being in the woods of Maine. He was a member of the Falmouth Rod and Gun Club and attended many events such as Ducks Unlimited and The National Wild Turkey Federation fundraisers.
Anyone who knew Peter, knew what a hard worker he was- as a boy he always had some kind of job. He had a newspaper route, he mowed lawns, he raked seaweed off the beach, whatever he was able to do to earn some money to save up for something he wanted. When he was old enough, Peter followed in his father's footsteps and began working in the family business, Peter L. Jacobson Plumbing and Heating, and eventually became a partner after earning his plumbers license.
Peter was a craftman, and built many things including collaborating in the construction of the camp in Maine. Those who know Peter know his attention to detail- right down to the way he stacks his woodpile! He was a perfectionist and it showed in everything he built or maintained. He used that craftsmanship in the kitchen as well. Peter loved to cook, especially if it was something he harvested himself. You were in for a treat if you got to taste his smoked turkey or his Oysters Peterfeller!
In June 1991, he married the love of his life, Cheryl. Peter and Cheryl were inseparable. Where there was Peter and Cheryl there was laughter. Their mutual love for the outdoors led them on many adventures, from days camping in tents to cherished memories of spending time at the camp in Maine. Peter has said, "Cheryl is my rock", they were by each other's side through the good times and especially during the challenges. He also loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband and brother and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
In addition to his loving wife Cheryl and his mother Elsie, Peter is survived by three siblings, Lisa Higgins and husband Alexander of Mashpee, Walter Jacobson and wife Chris of Mashpee, Sylvia Smoller and husband David of East Falmouth and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Chapman Funerals and Cremations 74 Algonquin Ave (Rte 151) Mashpee, on Saturday May 4th from 9am to 11am. A funeral service will follow in St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Osterville at 12PM. Burial will be private.
