Quentin Merle Gibson, affectionately known as "Sam," passed away on April 6, 2025, in Hendersonville, NC, at the age of 81. Born on May 25, 1943, in Bartholomew, IN. Sam lived a life marked by dedication to his craft and commitment to his family and community.
Sam served his country with honor as a member of the Navy for six years, instilling in him a sense of duty and discipline that he carried throughout his life. Following his service, Sam embarked on a career as an Ornamental Welder Fabricator, a profession he excelled in for over 50 years. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were admired by many and left a lasting impression in the communities he served.
Sam was a devoted member of New Hope Ministries, where his faith was both a guiding light and a source of strength. His enduring belief in service and fellowship was evident in all aspects of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Quentin Daniel Gibson and Edith Molean King Gibson, and his brother, Bransford Bruce Gibson, his son Raymond Gibson. Sam leaves behind his beloved wife of 47 years, Joyce Elaine Gibson, who shared his life's journey with unwavering love and support. He is also survived by his children, Jennifer, Peter, and Larry, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Lawrence Pennington, Taylor Schock, and Sophie McDonald. Sam's memory lives on through his siblings, Robert (Mary) Gibson George Gibson, and Constance (Melvin) Wright, along with a host of other family members and friends who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Sam's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor his legacy. Mountain View Cremation & Funeral Care has the honor of serving the family during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sam's honor to the Asheville VA Medical Center, 1100 Tunnel Rd, Asheville, NC 28805, a testament to his enduring bond with his fellow veterans.
Sam Gibson will be remembered as a man of integrity, skill, and compassion, whose love for his family and community was unparalleled. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
