Rita Sue Blankenship, 71, of Ashland, died Thursday, May 12, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Rita was born May 10, 1951, in Ashland, Ohio to Clarence and Mary {Longden} Streit.
She married Dan Blankenship on February 10, 1973. Dan went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2017.
Rita worked as a medical assistant for Richland Surgical, of Mansfield. She attended Calvary Baptist Church. The most important thing to Rita was family, especially her children and grandchildren. She rarely missed a game, concert, or event of her grandchildren. Rita also loved tending to her plants and flowers.
Rita will be deeply missed by her children Christine (Kevin) Meeting of Ashland, and Melinda Blankenship of Columbus; daughter-in-law Leslie Blankenship of Ashland; grandchildren Kameron (Brooklyn) Meeting, Mackensi Meeting, Morgan Meeting, Madison Meeting, Addilyn Blankenship, Bryce Blankenship, and Brooklyn McRae; brother Dan (Donna) Streit; sisters Mary Lou (Richard) Rogers, Dixie (Don) Derr, Donna Harper, Sonja Adams, and Becky Beck.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents; two children Kristal and Brian; and grandson Mason.
Friends may call Wednesday from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland. Services will follow at 1:00 at the funeral home with Pastor Harry Strachan officiating. Private burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to Ashland County Council on Aging, 240 East 3 Street, Ashland, Ohio, 44805.
