Born on April 6, 1983, in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward L. VanWormer III and Mary Santiago (Lamont Parker), who survive.
Sarah's early life iwas filled with the warmth of a loving family. She graduated from Johnstown High School in 2001, where she was known for her kindness and spirited nature. Sarah's career at Taylor Made reflected her strong work ethic and her ability to connect with coworkers, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. While Sarah's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, her legacy of courage, love, and selflessness will endure. She was a woman who faced life's challenges with bravery and always put the needs of others before her own. Her passion for outdoor activities and spending time with her family will be fondly remembered as expressions of her adventurous and caring soul.
Family was the cornerstone of Sarah's world. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Robert Richards, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. Sarah was a cherished mother to her six children, Aurianna Brandt, Lawrence (Manny) Brandt, Gracie Mae Steenberg, Candace Steenberg, Aliana Steenberg, and Remi Richards. Sarah's role as a grandmother to Cody and Jaylin brought her immense joy. Her playful spirit and nurturing heart made her a beloved "grandma", and she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Lorraine Richards (Randy Richards); sister Danielle VanWormer; brothers Edward L. VanWormer IV (Nicole VanWormer) and Richard VanWormer (Kayla VanWormer); Aunt Karrie Sollak, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and sisters-in-law.
In addition to her father, Sarah was predeceased by her daughter, Lily.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be determined by the family.
