John Evers Obituary

John "Scott" Evers 1944—2021
John 'Scott' Evers, age 76 of Freeport, passed away January 20, 2021 after a arduous battle with Lewy-Body Dementia. 'Scott', as he was known to most, was born in Freeport on March 1, 1944 to Mary Louise (Franz) Evers and John A. Evers. He was the second oldest of three siblings. Scott graduated from Freeport High School in 1962 and Southern Illinois University with a Masters Degree in Communications. He relocated from the Midwest to Santa Barbara California in 1976. He later moved into the Los Angeles area where he pursued a film and television career appearing in several full feature Films and numerous television commercials. He later moved on from the film industry into the Food and Beverage Operations Division of the Los Angeles Dodgers Organization . He spent 12 years with the Dodgers. Along with meeting many of the players and coaches over the years, he always claimed the highlight of his career was the night during a game with the Cubs, both Tommy Lasorda and Harry Caray wished his mother Happy Birthday from Dodger Stadium. In 2000 he moved back to Freeport and went to work at the Elk's Lodge in Freeport as a bartender. He spent the next 14 years at the Lodge making many friends and acquaintances culminating with a Honorary Membership upon his retirement in 2018. Scott is survived by his brothers, Jim of Freeport, Joel and Sister-in-law Audrey of Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota and nephew Joseph of Bozeman, Montana. Cremation rites have been accorded. No services are planned at this time. A memorial has been established for the Freeport Elks Lodge in Scott's memory. Please sign his guestbook and share a story at www.burketubbs.com
