Thomas Hyde Obituary
Thomas Alonzo Hyde Jr., a native of New Orleans, La. departed this life on 8/12/2021 at the age of 67. Thomas Hyde was a graduate of Alcee Fortier High School and Southern University of New Orleans (SUNO). Mr. Hyde was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Incorporated, Sigma Lambda Chapter of New Orleans. He was the embodiment of Manly Deeds as a leader and a true pillar of his family and community. He served as the Dad's Club President at Xavier University Preparatory High School from 1988-1992, as well as the Band Booster Association President for St. Augustine High School in New Orleans from 1998 to 2002. He is the Husband of Charlotte Russell Hyde. Son of the late Hattie Dupree Massey and Thomas Alonzo Hyde Sr., Father of Duana Haynes (Corey), Toni Hyde, Elder Quinten Charles Spears, and Elder Thomas TAH Hyde III (Rella). Brother of Sharon Hyde Aguillard (Joseph), Sheila Hyde, LaJuan Rhodes, Jacques Massey, Tracee Massey, and Spencer Massey. Grandson of Nettie Dupree. He is survived by 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was proceeded by his grandmother Nettie Dupree, stepfather Louis Massey, sister LaJuan Rhodes, uncles Nathan Dupree and Louis Jamison. His Alpha Phi Alpha Omega service will be on Thursday, August 19, 2021, from 9:00am until 9:20am (performed by the men of Sigma Lambda chapter). Visitation will begin at 9:20am and will end when his resting service begins at 10:00am. All will take place at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave, New Orleans, La. 70125. Elder Thomas TAH Hyde of We Are Who We Are 144 Ministry and Brother Rick Angelain will be officiating. Arrangement by D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave.
*Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Rhodes has a strict 50 person limit and everyone MUST wear a mask to enter. They will also live stream on their Facebook page.
