Bon Jovi
Such was recruited to Bon Jovi in 1983 by keyboardist David Bryan, and in turn, he recommended guitarist Richie Sambora. The band released their debut album the following year, and they soon began charting successful singles. They became international stars with the 1986 album “Slippery When Wet,” including the No. 1 singles “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “Livin’ on a Prayer.” Singing backing vocals as well as playin bass, Such remained with Bon Jovi for their follow-up albums “New Jersey” and “Keep the Faith” before leaving in 1994. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with Bon Jovi in 2018.
Notable quote
“The record company used to lie about my age. I was 31 when I joined. I was a good 10 years older than the rest of the band. My sister eventually got really mad because the papers would describe her as my older sister when really she was younger.” —from a 2000 interview for the Asbury Park Press
