Ten years has passed since I met Prof. Fauls at BU as one of his students at BU COM. He encouraged and inspired me in many ways. He made me believe I can pursue my career in marketing and new technology even though at that time I would often feel overwhelmed as an international student. One of the best mentors and professors I have had in my life. He will be truly missed.

I was a student of Professor Fauls back in 2003 and he inspired and encouraged me to pursue my career in advertising. I attribute so much of my success to him and I even find myself quoting him in my head. I had lost touch with him and was hoping to reconnect, only to find that he had passed. I wish I had a chance to thank him again for making a dent in the universe. He will truly be missed.

I had taken many classes with Professor Fauls in 2003 and 2004 at BU. I kept in touch with him for a few years after I graduated and left Boston. He had just popped into my head. I googled him to see if I could find his linked in page, but was greatly saddened to see this instead. He was a great man who I learned a lot from. I can't believe he has passed. My condolences to all who knew him. I am thankful for all that he taught me. Rest in peace, Prof.

Tom and I attended Loyola Academy together and I am saddened to hear of his untimely death. He was in every respect a terrific person, friendly, thoughtful and kind. I met him at our 40th high school reunion and although we promised each other we would get together we never got around to doing it. I extend my sincere condolences to the members of his family.

Tom is far and away one of the best professors/educators/mentors I've known. He set me on a path as a student, and by retracing some of his steps through my own career, I hope I can continue to pay tribute to his legacy.

I just read of Tom's passing in
BU's magazine. I was a student of Tom's and am sad
to learn of his passing. So sad. I remember him being a kind teacher. I went to grad school when I was in my 50's and found Professor Fauls to understand me as an 'adult learner." Tom was an amazing man. He shared so much. I know his family must have great memories. All the best to you. With sincere sympathy.

The funeral mass at St. Norbert's was so special.Jennie did a wonderful job on the eulogy. The luncheon/reception at Hackney's was great, with lots of Tom Fauls stories! Lots of stuff I never knew. We appreciate everyone who came to celebrate our Tom. Tom's sister, Betsy Moran

One of the best at BU. 10 years after graduating, I still looked forward to the happy hours events in NYC and enjoyed our ongoing email conversations. Tom was a mentor to me, and he will be missed.

There was no professor who had a greater influence on my career. In the short time I knew him, it was still obvious he was a wonderful man. I just wish I had known him better. My condolences to all the family.

Dear Brenda, Cynthia and I wish to extend our condolences to you and Tom's Family at the untimely passing of our brave and courageous next door neighbor. Tom was ever so busy, leaving early in the morning to catch a train into Boston or even drive to the University himself. He was a devoted teacher, husband and family man. It was pleasant to know you Tom. May God watch over you.

Dearest brother Tommy,
There are no words that can express my gratitude for your constant love, the mirth and fun you brought into all our lives, your inestimable dignity and kindness. A better brother never lived (except for Mike, as you would say, quite correctly). Thank you for teaching me at every stage of life how to be a good person and do the right thing. Our love for you goes on forever, as will your influence. It is consoling to know that you are now with Dad. All my love, Susie

Cullene, during these past 6 challenging months, you meant everything to Tom for taking such meticulous, kind, tender care of him. You became a close member of our family and we are forever indebted to you.

July 2, 2013

Tom taught one of the most important courses in the BU health communications master's program. His insights, his sense of excitement about the communications field and his true love of "what's next" was an inspiration to all of us.

It was a privilege to know and to care for Mr. Fauls. I will not forget how hard he tired to do everything in his power to get better and to overcome each obstacle he faced.
I want to offer my heartfelt sympathy to all of you.
Sincerely,
Cullene

I met Tom when we were members of the Rotary Club of Chicago and were introduced by his previous father-in-law, Bill Weiss. He and Bill were members of our Rotary Fishing Fellowship and we enjoyed together a number of fishing trips to Canada.
As a producer of audio/visual productions and business meetings, Tom and his partner collaborated with me on proposals they created for clients of mine. Tom was a bright and creative thinker and it was always a pleasure working with him.
My condolences to his entire family. His time with us was much too short.

It's so hard to believe you are gone. You have always been so ALIVE!!! Such an amazing person. I will miss you so much! Still, I know your soul lives on, and your spirit will always be with us. What great memories we have to keep us company as we feel the need for your presence. I will pray for peace for you. I know you are now feeling the unconditional love of god. Have a great time up there! And say hi to dad for me :)

It was an honor to spend over 50 years in friendship with you Tom. Your wit and sense of honor are things that I will always remember and try to emulate. Your passing truly leaves a hole in Mary's and my life. You will always be remembered.

As one of his former students and, later, a teaching assistant for Tom, I wanted to share a couple of things I came to know and appreciate about him.

Tom was a gentle guy who seemed to love learning as much as he loved teaching. I felt lucky to be chosen to facilitate his online Interactive Marketing class. Sometimes in the weekly staff calls we'd have, he'd talk informally about agencies he visited, former students doing exciting things, and you could tell he loved sharing news about the success of others.

He laughed easily and in the calls, would sometimes mix up the "Jersey" girls' on the line (myself and another teaching assistant) ...for which we'd tease him and he'd always have a chuckle. But little stuff like this showed his fondness for us all.

After his class, we kept in touch. Tom always made ya feel he was happy to hear from you and willing to support any of us, in any way he could.

Finally....I have to share one of the many hidden gems from his lecture material. This one's a favorite that I have kept in my iPhone notes for a while - it really captures some of his wit and talent as a writer:
***"In a world of ever-increasing clutter, our tired crania crave clarity and flee from cognitive dissonance."***
-Tom Fauls, Interactive Marketing, 2012
RIP Tom - you will be missed and never forgotten.

Aloha Oe, Tom... you were my facilitator during my first online course in Boston U's MS Health Communication program, and our work together then, and when your were later my professor, helped me be certain I'd made the right choice to pursue the degree. Mahalo nui loa for all the knowledge you shared and for the aloha you showed me and all your students. You will be missed.

Dad, you taught me everything a person needs to know. You believed in me when no one else did. You gave me a legit role model in an era when they're scarce. You made sure I maintain high standards and take pride in hard work. When I want to succumb to weakness I hear your voice in my head making certain I remain strong. Your friends all wrote to me about your character, which they described with praise. I will measure everyone against you and they will fail. I loved when we were sarcastic together although we might have seemed slightly obnoxious. My love for you is profound and timeless. I will be grateful every day that you are my dad. You're my one and only.
