Mark Abbott Obituary

ABBOTT Mark Stephen Abbott, 55, of Worthington Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 23, 2009 from natural causes. Mark had an intellectual gift that he transformed into 'wearable art.' Mark was nationally recognized as an influential creator of precious jewelry. His pieces were trademarked by imaginative and innovative designs. In 2008 his pendant won first place and best of show in the jewelry design competition hosted by the Ohio Jewelers Association. In 2009 he received the prestigious Buyer's Choice Award in the Jewelers of America 19th annual design competition in New York. Mark was intrinsically happy and lived each day to its fullest. His artistic passions and ideals led his everyday life. He enjoyed travel, loved ones, and the loyalty of his beloved pets. His sense of humor, compassionate nature and kind disposition will be greatly missed. His unconditional love for his mother could be seen in his commitment and dedication to her well-being. He is preceded in death by father Donald Ira Abbott. He is survived by mother, Rose Barletta Abbott; sisters, Cathy Abbott and Sandy Francia; brother-in-law, Fred Francia; niece, Jennifer Francia; nephew, Philip Francia; Susan Adams, the love of his life; and his many friends. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL 6699 N. High St., where friends may call 1 hour prior. I was just notified of Mark's passing away, and am so sorry. Mark was the most talented jeweler. I will always have fond memories of him playing tennis outside of the powell store or designing his latest creation in his chair out in the sun.

I'd heard Mark died this weekend and I just wanted to say what a great guy he was. We lost touch with each other after high school and I never realized what an accomplished artist he was, Although I do remember seeing glimpses of that talent in high school (70-74).

I think back to when we knew each other and Mark will always be one of thoe people you think of and smile. He was always friendly, ready to say what's up, or set to play a practical joke on someone. Fun but never mean.

As an accomplished artist creating jewelry, he gained national acclaim for his work. Seeing his website (abbottjewelers.com)and his work is incredible. I had no idea.

He was a truly unique person and will be missed a lot.

God bless you guys. Mark was a good friend of mine and it seems impossible that he's gone. If I can help you with anything, please let me know.
I guess Mark had a pretty full and happy life and he didn't have to suffer...we should probably consider the good times and try not to be too sad, if that's possible.

Our condolences go out to the Abbott Family and Susan. We have known Mark since his early days as a goldsmith. He had a unique talent in working stones into his jewelry designs. Marks designs have been astonishing for
which he was just receiving awards. Those we have seen in the industry have expressed their sorrow and regrets. We will miss his kind heart, big smile and laughter.
