Doris McFadden, 88, of Pasadena, Texas went to be with the lord on Wednesday, 11/6/2013 in Pasadena, Texas. She was born on 11/16/1924 in Talpa, Texas to her parents, William and Velora Jackson. Doris was the third of five children. She attended Talpa High School and graduated in 1941. She married Lee Roy McFadden on March 10, 1944 in Lubbock, Texas. They had three children, all boys. Doris embarked on a new career and attended nursing school when she was 50 years old and received her LVN license. Doris's real passion in life besides her family was in quilting. She has quilted many award winning quilts in County Fairs all the way to state competition. She quilted all the way until shortly before her death. Doris residence in the latter part of her life was at Bayshore Towers Retirement Apartments where she had many friends. Doris will be remembered by her loving sons and their families and all of her friends. Doris is survived by her sister, Anita Manitzas as well as Doris's sons, Lee Roy McFadden Jr. and wife, Mary: Gerry McFadden and wife Mary Anne; and Vick McFadden. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Benton Jackson and Velora Alma Jackson; her husband, Lee Roy McFadden ; her sisters, Wilma Norris, and Opal Bishop as well as her brother, Felton Jackson.
Visitation for Doris will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, 11-12-2013 at Pasadena Funeral Chapel, 2203 Pasadena Boulevard, Pasadena, Texas 77502. A celebration of life will follow at 11:00am.
