Georgeann Lewis Zohar, 70, of Pasadena, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 12 th . She was born to the late George and Helen Lewis on October 25, 1944, in Houston, Texas. Georgeann graduated from Pasadena High School in 1963 and received her Bachelor of Science from Stephen F. Austin University in 1967. She married Nicholas Edward Zohar and they made their home in Pasadena, Texas, where she was a beloved teacher. Her teaching career spanned 32 years at Sam Rayburn High School where she inspired others to love science through innovative lessons. She was celebrated in the classroom and honored by Channel 13 News and the school as Miss Sunshine for her contributions to the students and faculty. Gigi, as she was called by her grandchildren, had a smile brighter than any sunshine, a twinkle in her eye that was sometimes innocent and other times mischievous, and an infectious giggly laugh. She loved to travel and experience new things and she was blessed to see the world with her friends at her side. She loved all things "crafty" and was a talented seamstress, artist, and collector. She was an avid game player and enjoyed making memories with her close knit circle of friends. She is survived by her two daughters: Stephanie (Wade) Lynton of Birmingham, Alabama, and Kelli Zohar- Davis (Malon Davis) of New Orleans, Louisiana. Her surviving grandchildren are Claire Lynton and Asher Davis. Gigi was a dedicated mother who worked three jobs to provide her daughters every opportunity. With her grandchildren, she never tired of lavishing them with attention. She was known as the mud pie maker, cookie baker, train derailer, car racer, story book reader and constant game player. Georgeann acted as the hands and feet of Jesus and truly believed in helping others. She served in the cancer ministry at Lakewood Church, where she was an active member. Gigi also volunteered her time at the Pasadena Community Ministry ("PCM"). At PCM, Gigi served as the bookkeeper and a general volunteer. PCM was her passion, and if she said it once, she said it 1000 times, "I can't wait to get well so I can go back to PCM. So many people need our help." To honor her, donations can be made in her name to PCM (PO Box 4954, Pasadena, TX, 77502) in lieu of flowers. Georgeann's Homegoing service will be held at Forest Park Lawndale at 6900 Lawndale Avenue on Monday, November 17 th . Visitation begins at 9:00 am and services will follow at 10:30.

Kelli and Stephanie, I cannot even imagine how much you will miss your mom. She was one of a kind and oh, so rare. She was my mentor and department head when I first started teaching. Since I started teaching later in life and as a second career, it was much harder than I ever imagined. If it had not been for Georgeann Zohar, I would not have made it that first year. She took me under her wings and taught me how to teach. Most people will simply give you materials and tell you to use them. However, Georgeann was much more detailed, she would say, "Now when you give them this sheet, you say this and explain it like this...." I know God put me at Rayburn that first year because He knew Georgeann Zohar would take care of me. I will never forget her and believe it or not, I still have some of the worksheets she gave me with her handwriting on them. With that said, I certainly hope this note will bring you some comfort and the realization that Georgeann's work and spirit will live on in me and so many others.

Your mom was one of the sweetest people I had the pleasure of knowing. She always had a smile and a kind word. The last time I saw her was a couple of years ago at Walmart. Even after all these years, she knew who I was. One of my fondest memories of her was when she and Kristi Higginbotham took the geology class to the Fine Arts Museum for a Pompeii Exhibit. They became convinced that they could paint better than the artists that were featured. She will be sorely missed...

Ms. Zohar was an awesome mentor to me when I first started teaching. She gave me the confidence to know that I was able to teach the students and inspired me to want to continue to fight for kids and their continued learning. It has been many years but she has always been in my prayers and my heart. I pray for her family and may God continue to comfort you in this time of loss. But know that her love and care for others is everlasting.

My name is Stacy Williams, and I am a former student of Mrs. Zohar. She was an amazing educator that always went above and beyond to make learning fun and meaningful for her students. My heart breaks for your family, because I know you will greatly miss her kind heart, unique sense of humor, and gentle spirit. I will keep you all in my prayers.

As I let my mind's eye wander back to that Thanksgiving weekend 1989, I remember walking into Georgeann's house and immediately feeling welcomed and loved as if I had been part of the family for years. Kelli and Stephanie, your mother's kindness and love of life will live on in you and her precious grandchildren. We love and miss Georgeann.

Georgeann was a wonderful lady that I will always remember. As a softball mom myself, I enjoyed many days and nights with her by my side cheering on our girls. She will be deeply missed and please know I am keeping you and the entire family in my thoughts and prayers. May she RIP.

Steph and Kelli,
We are so sadden to hear of the passing of your precious mother. She was "one" of a kind. I will never forget her at the ball park and how she was always so cheerful and kind with a big smile on her face. It was good to see you both a few years back in Houston (Harwin) shopping. We will forever remember Georgeann and may God comfort you and your entire family during your time of grief. Love you both!

Dear Stephanie and Kelli, it has been almost 2 years since I saw your mom, but I have kept up with her. I miss her already and hope that you will be able to remember the good times. Georgeann was the epitome of grace and goodness. She was always ready to help, whatever the task. Her beautiful eyes stand out in my memory, and my love and prayers go out to you and your children. George Ann was one of my first best friends at South Shaver Elem. We always spent the night together and had fun going over to South Shaver (which was just behind her house) playing on all of the playground equipment! It was always nice to see her all the way through high school. I always kept up with her through my daughter, Vikki, when she was at Sam Rayburn. Lost touch after Vikki graduated, and I am very sad to hear that she had to leave us so early. She is now in a wonderful reunion with her parents. May God wrap his arms around her family during this time and give them comfort.

Precious Steph & Kelli, I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Mom, Georgeann & I had so many wonderful times together meeting @ the football games watching you girls perform, under Ms. Baker!! Or for dinner, usually Mexican, & a movie after football season was over!! I loved her dearly & the feeling was mutual,,When I moved away in '92 we didn't see each other as much, BUT we kept in touch through the years,, unfortunately I hadn't talked to her in a few years, BUT I THOUGHT ABOUT HER SO MANY TIMES. Georgeann will always be one of our family. She had a special gift of lighting up the room wherever she was with her humor and charisma. That same beauty has been passed on through her unbelievable two daughters, Steph and Kelli. We are so happy Georgeann is with the Lord. Kirk and Becca Botkin and Family
