George Douglas “Doug” Murff, 82, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at his home. He was born on March 30, 1943 in Gattman to Forthman and Gladys Danner Murff and he was a 1963 graduate of Hamilton High School. A life-long resident of Monroe County he was married to the former Mildred Sutton Linley and was co-owner of Mildred’s Restaurant. He had also worked as a carpenter and in retail sales at Spot Cash in Aberdeen. Doug enjoyed keeping up with current events, reading, and working in his shop. Above all, he adored his grandchildren. He was Baptist by faith.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro. Robert Moore officiating. Daughters Missy Luna and Marie Guin will deliver eulogies.
In addition to his wife, Mildred Murff, he is survived by two daughters, Melissa “Missy” Luna (Tim), Batesville and Marie Guin (Tony), Hamilton; stepdaughter, Sandra Linley Hamilton (Randie), Duck Hill; step sons, Tony Linley (Robbie), Louisville and Mark Linley (Kathy), Aberdeen; sister, Rheda Murff Tate, Warrior, AL; brother, Charles Murff (Mary), Detroit, AL; 3 grandchildren, Dylan Evans, Alex Luna, and Cassidy Guin; 5 step grandchildren, Brad Linley, Kayla Hamilton Harville (P.J.), Kody Hamilton, Kelly Linley and Karry Linley; and 6 step great grandchildren, Sage Linley, Joseph Harville, Olivia Harper, Riley Kate Hamilton, Madi Harville, and Mabry Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ed Murff; brother-in-law, Harold Tate; granddaughter, Hannah Rose Guin; and step grandson, Philip Linley.
Pallbearers will be Clay Murff, Carl Murff, Phillip Murff, Dylan Evans, Chris Tate, and Qwade Murff.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home.
