John C. Nordmark

John was born on May 31, 1937, in Grand Rapids, MN. John was a 1955 graduate of Platte High School, Platte S. Dak. His career was primarily in the poultry industry. He served as the General Mgr. for the Platte Hatchery, Poultry Mgr. for Marshall Foods, Marshall, MN, Owner of JC’s Truck Stop in Coleman, S. Dak., General Mgr. for Forrest Farms in Eagle, ID. He retired as Maintenance Supervisor at Westgate Apartments in Hibbing, MN. John was often referred to as “Big John”. He was a frequent guest lecturer at S. Dak. State University where he was referred to as Professor Nordmark.

John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sheryl, his brother Ed (Gail) Nordmark, his brother-in-law Ron Warner, his 12 children, Vickie (Matt) Kaiser, Robert (Stephanie) Thompson, Randall (Kimberly) Nordmark, Janice (Scott) Johnson, Diane Thompson, David (Michelle) Nordmark, Earl Thompson, Sheryl (Duane) Gutierrez, Debra Strickler, Donna (Corey) Harwood, Diana (Armando) Carbon, Patti Nordmark, 28 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, which adds to a total of 95 descendants. John is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Golden Nordmark, two brothers, two sisters, a granddaughter, a grandson, and a great-granddaughter.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm on August 20, 2025, at the Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior, with Ed Vesel officiating the service. Interment will take place at the Nashwauk Cemetery in Nashwauk, MN.
