Margaret Hahn HICKORY Margaret Eckard Hahn, 82, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011, at her residence after a period of declining health. Margaret was born Feb. 27, 1929, in Catawba County to the late Paul Herman and Mary Hefner Eckard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Eugene Hahn, Sr., brothers, Walter Lee Eckard and Paul C. Eckard, and a son-in-law, Daniel Lasky. She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, and, for over 25 years, she worked at the Stock Yard Caf‚ and Flea Market on Sweet Water Road, where she shared a passion for cooking and was mom to all. Other passions included bingo, visiting casinos and traveling. Surviving are daughters Deborah Hahn Moore and friend Terry Burleson, and Sharon Hahn Lasky, both of Hickory, a son, George Eugene "Gene" Hahn, Jr., and his wife, Bobbie Wright Hahn, of Hickory; granddaughters, Shanna Blinson Curtis, Chelsea Hahn Hartness, and her husband, Devin, Lindsay Cherise Hahn and Kyla Marie Hahn, all of Hickory; grandsons, Russell David Blinson and George Eugene Hahn, III, all of Hickory; great- granddaughter, Hannah Renea Curtis, of Hickory, and Clara Belle Wildman, of Hickory; great-grandson, George Nathaniel Blinson, of Hickory; sisters, Virginia Eckard Ritch, and Patricia Sain, and her husband, Scott, both of Hickory; a brother, J. D. Eckard and his wife, Carol, of Daytona Beach, Fla., and a sister-in-law, Rosie Eckard, of Boone. Services will be held Thursday, March 17, at 11 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church with the Rev. Andrew Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Russell Blinson and George Hahn, III; also nephews, Michael Ritch, Butch Miller, Eddie Miller, J. D. Eckard. Honorary Pallbearers will be all nephews. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home.
