Raymond A. Picone

Raymond A. Picone passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2024. He was 93 years old and a life-long resident of Harahan, Louisiana. Beloved father of Glenn (Cathy) Picone, Margaret (Keith) Banta, and Ray (Kim) Picone. He is also survived by his former daughter-in-law Patty Picone; grandchildren Brandi, Crystal, Trey, Matt, Chad and Jason; great-grandchildren Brycen, Cooper, Carter, Caitlin, Hailey, Amelia, Jacob, Kevin Michael, Vivian, Jack, Charlotte and Lucille. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Leola McAllister Picone, his parents Joseph and Marguerite Picone, his brothers Thomas, Joseph and George and his sister Angelina. Raymond served in the Army National Guard from 1950 to 1956, ran the family gas station from the early 1950's until 1958, and drove Bus #35 from 1950 to 1973. Raymond began his career as an insurance agent in 1958 at Delta Life Insurance and joined State Farm Insurance Company in 1964. He retired after 30 years in 1995. He was an avid golfer, and his love of golf began when he started working as a caddy at the age of 11 at the Colonial Country Club and later became a member until it's closure in 2011. Raymond was kind and generous man who was extremely proud of the family he and Leola made together that started with a blind date. He is deeply loved and will be missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. The family would like to thank his caregivers Claudette, Cass, Hope, Pat and Vital Care Hospice for all their loving care and support. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Raymond's Life at Harahan Christian Church, 1535 Hickory Avenue, Harahan LA, 70123 on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. with service starting at 4:00 p.m. A Gathering will immediately follow at Bienvenue on Hickory, 467 Hickory Avenue. The family encourages you to wear casual attire.
