Ricky Dwayne Jones, 65, of Newberry, passed away on Sunday, August, 31, 2025, at his home.
Born on January 9, 1960, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Morris Lee and Jane Cannon Jones. Ricky was a 1978 graduate of Newberry High School and also a graduate of Piedmont Technical College. He retired from the South Carolina Department of Administration. He was a member of Summer Memorial Lutheran. During his lifetime he had a great passion for music and had previously served in the church choir.
Ricky is survived by his wife, Dana Martin Jones; daughters, Emily Layton (Matthew) of Wagener and Kaitlyn Jones (Caden Smith) of Newberry; a brother, Ronnie (Darrah) Jones of Prosperity; mother-in-law, Helen Martin of Newberry and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Summer Memorial Lutheran Church by the Rev. Rebecca Wicker and Rev. Bobby Morris. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm.
The family suggests that those desiring to give a memorial gift in memory of Ricky may do so to the Summer Memorial Lutheran Church Capital Improvement Fund, 1609 Milligan Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
