I just found out that Sally had died. My wife, Paige (Dampier) Moore, and I were in college with her in Statesboro. Paige lived in the same dormitory with her. I recall that one weekend she caught a ride with me to Summertown. We re-connected with her in September 2016 at GOLDEN LIVING CENTER, and enjoyed several weeks while Paige was in Rehab for Parkinson's. Sally did not eat the food there, so she passed her meals on to me whenever I was there visiting Paige. We were discharged so quickly we did not exchange contact information. The letter I sent her c/o Golden Living was not forwarded and returned to me. We are sad. She was a great person.

Sincere condolences to the family and friends.

I was saddened to learn the news of Ms. Sally's passing. Ms. Sally Hooten, my typing teacher, had a larger-than-life personality that her students loved. She was much more than a teacher; she was a 'life' coach, in a sense. She was all about her students becoming involved in extracurricular school activities such as sports, clubs, volunteer opportunities. I particularly recall two FBLA Conventions that she 'chaperoned" -- and I'll say no more! As a teacher, she touched so many lives and made a positive difference. I will be forever grateful for your wisdom and guidance, Ms. Sally. I'm so glad our paths crossed. ♡

The feelings that go deepest are the most difficult to express. Sally, you have given Carol and me many wonderful memories. It all started our freshman year of college, and we've been a great threesome since. You lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives along the way with compassion and love. It's been said that a demonstration of charity and love is far better than a definition of them. Sally Rainwater, you were an excellent example of this demonstration. Yours was a life that exemplified kindness; a life that illustrated the Golden Rule; a life that burned so that others' paths were lighted. We're really going to miss you, our special friend! It was a wonderful blessing knowing you. I ask God's comfort on all of us now in our time of sorrow.

Sally did things her "way" and in and on her "time" , and most of the time we had a difference in the way things should be done , but I had the utmost respect for her. She was a kind LADY.

Sally, It seems like yesterday that we were having dinner and laughing at the silly things we had done. Remember the "shrimp tails" at Crabdadys's? And how about you and I moving Carol into her condo? And the "chandelier" issue? So fun!!! What fond memories I have and all the wonderful parties you gave my girls. You are the most generous person I have ever known and my heart is so sad knowing I won't hear that great voice again. Rest in Peace Sally. I loved you so much Stephanie Austin
