Hirth Jr., 59, Cherry Valley, passed away at 7:45 a.m., Thursday, July 4, 2013, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He grew up working the rodeo circuit as a Bronc Rider; he later became a welder with Sheet Metal Workers Local 219 for more than 30 years. He was a free spirit who loved outdoors, wildlife, Harleys, good times, and friends. Survivors include, Mother, Betty (Elizabeth) Hirth of Rockford; Sister, Barb (Barbara) Hirth of Rockford; Son, Cole Hirth of Rockford; a very special grandson, Kamren Wilkinson of Rockford; two nieces, Liza (Elizabeth) and Ray Hunter of Roscoe, Becky (Rebecca) Hirth of Rockford; and a very special great nephew, Gauge Hunter of Roscoe. A special thank you to special friends for sticking by during the rough times; Kenny Nesheim, Gary Graves and Rodeo mentor, Tom Oar of Montana. Special thank you to the Oncology Staff at UW Madison and everyone at Northern Illinois Hospice. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park. Reverend Ron Meyer will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to time of service. Celebrate Stan's life by riding Harley or Horse, all welcome. Come in jeans; that is the only way he would want it. "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched, but are felt in the heart"-Helen Keller. To Cole, Kam, Grandma Betty and the entire Hirth Family. Stan was always a free spirit to say the least, he did things his own way and on his own time. He left a legacy in Cole, as he is the same way! Kamren will grow up with those same values instilled in him and he will always know about his grandpa Stan and the crazy, fun, outrageous stories and experiences he had in life. I'm so sorry for your loss and he will be greatly missed.
