Gloucester – Helena D. (Marchant) Ciarametaro, 98, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Best Friend passed peacefully on May 4,2019, at the Gloucester Healthcare. Helena was born in Watertown Mass on August 6, 1920, to parents Preston & Florence (Altmire) Marchant. Helena attended Gloucester Schools and Graduated from Gloucester High in 1937. Helena found her place in this world by entering the restaurant business in her early teens and worked summers in Up State New York at several Resorts. Much later in life after graduating High School Helena once again got the Restaurant bug and was employed at several establishments around the North Shore, in the late seventies she ventured into a business with her son Thomas and his wife Toni at the Lobster Cove Market and Restaurant in Annisquam, from there she went to a new venture with her family The Lobster Pool in Rockport where she retired at the young age of 87. Helena was a world traveler and loved to tell her family of her travels through Europe, China and Africa, how she took a camel ride while in Africa, floated down the river on a barge in China with the farmers and their animals, and went up in a Hot Air Balloon and slept in a Tree House while on Safari, that was Helena always ready to try anything. Helena will be missed by many as she had made lots of friends along her journey, but as she told her family "until we meet again" because it's "not good bye". Helena is survived by her children, Roberta Peterson (Richard), Helena "Penny" Kennedy (Lee), Michelle Ciarametaro (Donna), Thomas Ciarametaro (Toni), and Jacqualin Laflam (Ollie), Her Grandchildren- Rosalie Lombardo (Joe), Carla Jayne Peterson-Lawton (Mike), Leeann Kennedy, Robert Kennedy (Karen), Emily Kennedy-Wilmes (Raymond), Jillian LaFlam-Scola, Jennifer LaFlam, Thomas TJ Ciarametaro, and her Great Grandchildren, Danielle Lawton, Richard & Andrew Fisher, Zachary & Kate Kennedy, Benjamin Scola and Chloe Kousoulos. Helena was very proud of her entire family and bragged whenever she could. She also leaves a special niece, Christine Ciarametaro, and dear friends, Adele Barrett, Bill Noble and Wally Powers. Helena's family would like to thank the staff at the Sawyer Free Library for the wonderful VIP treatment over the years, as well as Dr. Thomas Pearce, and a special Thank You to the Gloucester Healthcare Nursing and CNA staff for the exceptional care during her short stay. We have many wonderful memories of Helena especially her wonderful meals at "the Market" and later at the Lobster Pool. She was an amazing woman and quite the character.
