Karl C. Schiffinger, 64, of Forestport, died on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at his home. He was born on December 31, 1946, in Utica, a son of the late Ernest and Margaret Erb Schiffinger. He attended UFA and served in the United States Navy for four years. Karl married Melodye Hook in 1968, in Utica. He worked for 37 years as a truck driver for S.R. Sloan, Inc. Karl had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Melodye; children, Terri Schiffinger of Utica; Timothy Schiffinger and his wife, Debbie of New Hartford; grandchildren, Brittany and Jeffrey Conkling, Kayla Emery, Marc, Melissa and Nikolas Schiffinger, step-grandson Bobby; brothers and sister-in law, Robin and Lisa Schiffinger, Ernest Schiffinger, III and Kevin Schiffinger; sisters and bothers-in-law, Desiree and Tony Mincey; Kristen and Ronald Goff and Shaun Schiffinger and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Sweeney. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mare, Davia, Heather, and Raina for being there for them in a great time of need.
