Norma Lee (Elpers) Hoffmann, age 84, of Evansville, passed away on the birthday of her late husband Jerry, on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at her home.
Norma was homemaker and a waitress at many local restaurants. She had also worked as the kitchen manager at the Knights of St. John at St. Wendel. Norma was a former member of St. Wendel Catholic Church as well as a current member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Ann's Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John at St. Wendel. She was an active volunteer for many years at the Little Sisters of the Poor, was an avid St. Louis Cardinals' fan and was well known for her quilting.
Surviving Norma are five daughters, Debra (David) Stevens of Evansville, Brenda Phillips of Newburgh, Ellen (Larry) Howard of Henderson, Cheryl (Mark) Haskins and Susie (Brad) Traylor, both of Evansville; four sons, John (Susie) Hoffmann of Monrovia, IN, George (Jan) Hoffmann of Evansville, Chris (Cathy) Hoffmann of Wadesville and Matthew "Bubba" Hoffmann of Evansville; eight sisters, Mary (Frank) Martin, Allene (Joe) Hisch, Rita (Scott) Hipp, Martina (Charlie) Angermeier, Rosie (Gilbert) Adler, Emma Jean (Richard) Couture, Janie (Keith) Ward and Hilda (Francis) Spahn and three brothers, Herman "Bud" (Sandra) Elpers, Paul (Sarah) Elpers, and Dennis (Carol) Elpers. Also surviving are nineteen grandchildren, Elizabeth Dennis, Samuel Fehrenbacher, Kyle Hoffmann, Kelly Steinback, Hank Hoffmann, Emma Hoffmann, Andrea Balboni, Michael Phillips, Laura Cooper, Joseph Howard, Ashley Hoffmann, Kelsey Hoffmann, Jamie Hoffmann, Daniel Hoffmann, Clinton Hoffmann, Jackson Traylor, Eva Traylor, Lillian Traylor and Owen Traylor and three great grandchildren, Peyton Hoffmann, Carter Steinback and Nolan Steinback.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jerome Hoffmann in 1997 and by a great grandson, Theodore Scott Dennis.
A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Rev. Ed Schnur officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Wednesday at St.Wendel Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Deaconess Hospice and staff for the compassionate care shown to Norma.
