David Specht Obituary

SPECHT David Cyril Sean Specht, age 46, died Friday, September 9, 2005. Born in Columbus, Ohio, April 5, 1959. Employed by Old World Furniture Co., where David was a furniture restorer, and worked incredible artistic magic bringing new life to old wood furniture. Attended Corpus Christi grade school and later attended South High School last in 1974, where he met and made many lasting friendships. David loved the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman. David rooted tirelessly for the Cincinnati Bengals, never losing faith in them. David was proud of his German-American heritage, and was learning German, at the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his loss: his wife, Wendy Specht and her children Venita, Antonio and Mattina Nollette; his mother and step-father, Barbara Dempsey Specht and Jim Halleran; his brothers, Daniel (Penne), Timothy, and Mark (Megan) Dempsey; nieces and nephews, Dan, David, Allison, Celia, Conor, Michaela, Mary Kate; cousins, Doug Dempsey, Debbie (Steve) Rowe, Vincent, Emily and Nicholas Relli; special uncles, James (Donna Relli) Dempsey, Jerry (Shelly) Dempsey; and his favorite aunt, Mary Dempsey; special friends, Mike Riggs, Bobby Saunders; and numerous others. David was preceded in death by his father Terry Specht, his sister Michelle "Shelly" Specht, and his cousin James "Beau" Butler, grandparents Cyril and Ann Specht, Edward and Lenora Dempsey. David always managed to see the humor around him, with quiet gentility, a warm smile and a generous heart. The family will receive friends at the O'SHAUGHNESSY FUNERAL HOME, 405 E. Town St. Tuesday 5-7 p.m., where funeral services will be held Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. David was a dear husband, son, brother and friend, who will be missed. "Run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread man."

My sympathies to David's family. David was a caring person. Who I greatly admired. He always lended a helping hand. Both my older daughters was born on his B-day. And he was tickled. And all of us always think of David to when celebrating their B-day and always will. The world will be a little sadder with David gone. Love Sandy,Emily, and Elizabeth

To My Cousins Dan, Tim and Mark:

Your Uncle Herb named me after your father, so I cannot claim to be a true cousin as I wish I could.

What is important though is that we and David and our late cousin Tommy played together as brothers long ago in the 60's while our fathers hunted and fished on the weekends. I remember these times fondly.

My error is not to have kept in touch, and this lapse cannot be altered for David and me. I believe David will forgive me, and trust that the remainder of us will say hello more frequently, and perhaps fish together in David's honor.

Respectfully,

Terry Specht

Barb, Danny, Timmy and Mark,

I’m so sorry to hear about David. David was one of the nicest people I’ve ever known with an ornery sense of humor. It’s so sad to find out he’s gone.

It’s been years since I’ve seen any of you, and unfortunately, I won’t be able to make the service this evening. My brother, Danny, will be attending.

I have so many great memories of you and your family. In fact, my daughter, Heather Michelle, was named after Shelly.

I am so sorry for your loss. Love always,

Mary Ann Reid

Barbara and Jim:

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your son David. It just doesn't seem fair to have had two of your children pass away. I can still remember when you stayed with us at the time of Shelly's misfortune and how Jerry came to help you.

I am truly sorry I cannot be with you and yours at this most crucial time, but I was recently hospitalized with dehydration and pneumonia and can barely be up and about for 3 hours. I will say many prayers for God to help you and David's wife and family.

Be as strong as you can and remember the good times with David.

Love, Norma
