Jacques Politi

POLITI Jacques Politi, MD, died peacefully on December 2, 2009 at Zusman Community Hospice at Wexner Village in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on August 10, 1936 in Alexandria, Egypt to Esther and Joseph Politi. He attended Victoria College then graduated from Medical School at St. Andrews University in Scotland. He immigrated to the United States with his wife in 1960. He did his General Internship at North Side Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio and followed this with a Pediatric Residency at Columbus Children's Hospital. He served in the US Army as a captain at Fort Riley in Kansas. Dr. Politi set up his first pediatric practice in Colonial Heights, Virginia and practiced there for 3 years. He then returned to Youngstown, Ohio. He was Board Certified in Allergy and Immunology and practiced Pediatric Allergy for the last 25 years of his career. He served as the Chief of Pediatrics at St. Elizabeth Hospital and Tod Children's Hospital in Youngstown. He served as an associate professor at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. He had a love for thoroughbred horse racing and was an active owner and breeder. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, of 50 years. He is also survived by his four children, Diane (Eric) Hetson of Hubbard, Oh., Judith Politi of Columbus, Oh., Jonathan Politi of Youngstown, Oh., Joel (Julie) Politi of Columbus, Oh.; eight grandchildren; his brother, Albert (Mirielle) of Marseilles, France; and many loving family members. Graveside services were held on Thursday, December 3rd. Shiva will be observed at Dr. Joel and Julie Politi's residence on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
