John B. Smith Jr., age 94, passed away November 5, 2017. He was born June 29, 1923 in Knott County, KY. Preceded in death by granddaughter Stacey Michelle Smith-Siders. Survived by wife, Beulah; children, Linda (Phil) Dillard, Rita Sharrock, David (Debbie) Smith, Lois Smith; grandchildren, Tony (Danica) Sharrock, Phil Siders, Jessica Smith; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Lauren Sharrock, Austin, Makayla, Paisley and Emmit Siders, and Jordan Spires; brother, Robert B. Smith; as well as extended family and friends. John proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy and was a WWII veteran. He was a retired carpenter. More than anything John loved spending time with his family, especially beach trips and his birthday parties. Visitations will be Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Newcomer, Grove City, from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Service will be Friday, November 10, 2017 at the funeral home at 11am. I was so sad when I heard Uncle Johnny had passed. I have such fond memories of time spent with him and the entire family at Myrtle beach when I was a child. Mom (Jean) loved him dearly and always told me how he looked out for her when she was young. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

My condolences to all. My Uncle Johnny was much loved by my mom, Veda, and was a wonderful brother to her. She had many wonderful stories about him when they were growing up, and when he got out of the navy. We will all miss him. Love to Beulah and kids.
