Whitney Prince Obituary

Prince, Whitney
On Thursday, December 31, 2020, Whitney Erin Prince left this world at the age of 40. Cherished daughter of George and Cathy; adored wife of Justin Sweeney; loving mother of Elias; beloved sister of Shannon and Alex; she is also survived by her dearest friends, Alexis and Milo; grandmother, Carolyn; several uncles and aunts, including Don, Kathy, John, Linda, Debbie, and Lynette; many cousins and other extended family members. Whitney was born on February 18, 1980 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of George and Cathy Prince. They moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1982. Early in life, her doting father called her Winny-chan, a nickname she proudly carried into her online life. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Gahanna, class of 1998. Every moment she could be, and even sometimes when she shouldn't have been, Whitney was a hurricane of creative energy. She would conquer any art medium she could, just to bring a work of art to fruition. She worked for the Information Systems Department of Ohio Health, tackled raising a child with unique needs, and still found time to express herself artistically. Whitney always carried a fearless spirit, and a smile. She thought the best of every one, and had no time for negativity or judgment. She left a lasting impression on every person she met, especially through her vibrant, rainbow-colored hair. Whitney loved to sing, and had a beautiful voice. In her teens, she sang with her mother in the Scioto Valley Chorus. Later in life she found a love for karaoke, in which she excelled and impressed. Another hobby of hers was writing, and she poured countless hours into weaving stories online. Her favorite and most passionate topic was TMNT, so much so that she owned a green Mazda complete with TMNT vanity plates and stickers galore. A celebration of life is planned to be held via video conference, with an announcement to follow.

As Whitney's coworker on her team, I always enjoyed chatting with her about comics, video games, computers and everything nerdy! Like the obituary says, she truly did not have time for negative energy. She always looked at the positive side of life, and this made her an absolute joy to talk to and work with. My deepest condolences to her family.

Dear Family
I am very sorry for the loss of your beloved daughter. She had most recently suggested scheduling game time as a get together for her team. She always looked on the bright side of life.
Wishing you comfort and grace as you begin to navigate without her wonderful presence.

I have worked with Whitney for many years at OhioHealth. I always considered her a friend and loved to catch up with her when I could. She was a passionate and kind individual that loved life. I was truly shocked and deeply saddened to hear of her passing. Justin, you and Elias are in my thoughts and prayers.

Winny shared my love of TMNT and we spent a bit of time over the last few years fangirling, writing, and talking about art together. She was kind, enthusiastic, and encouraging. I will miss her so much! And to her family, I’m deeply sorry for your loss!

I just want to say to all of Whitney's (or Winny's, as I knew her) family and friends how deeply sorry I am. I miss her fiercely. She and I spent a lot of time writing together, and I'm grateful that she shared her talent with me and so many others. I will never forget her.

You brought so many wonderful people together to celebrate the things we love.
You lived life unapologetic and superbly unique and I truly regret that we never got to meet in person.
Thank you for all you have done for us...and for me.
