Roger Glover Obituary
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Glover officiating. Burial will follow in Pinckard Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 until 5 p.m. today.
Roger was born July 17, 1941, in Pinckard, AL to William Stafford Glover and Claudie Peters Glover. He attended school in Pinckard and Rehobeth, AL. He married Mary Frances Gibson of Umatilla, FL on October 17, 1960 and they were married for 48 years.
Roger worked 40 years as a truck driver. He received many safe driving awards and was very proud that he had driven millions of miles without being involved in an accident.
To know Roger was to love him. He enjoyed playing his guitar and harmonica. He loved sharing life stories with anyone he met and he never met a stranger. He always kept you laughing with his jokes and humor.
He was fondly known by his trucking CB handle, "Pretty Boy Floyd" and was a "Die Hard Auburn Fan". War Eagle!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stafford and Claudie Glover, his step-mother, Helen (Hyndman) Glover, mother and father-in-law, Johnnie and Lester Gibson, a sister-in-law, Pauline Wilson, and two brothers-in-law, Donnie Ray Gibson and Wesley "Doc" McKnight.
Roger is survived by his wife, Frances, two daughters, Tammy (Ricky) Jackson and Renee (Johnny) Barron; grandchildren, Josh (Sarah) Jackson, Shane Jackson, Adam, Kaleb and Trevor Barron; three brothers, Gwen (Grace) Glover, Randall (Sybil) Glover, and Reg (Debbie) Glover; four sisters, Janice McKnight, Doris (Wayne) Maddox, Glenda (Marvin) Wheeless, and Claudia (Wesley) Strickland; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Diane) Gibson, Jerry Gibson, Dale (Cheri) Gibson; sisters-in-law, Jean (Wayne) Bariteau, Jewell (Howard) Creech, and Linda (Bill) Shook; many nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Strickland, Jonathan Wheeless, Jarrad Glover, Slade Glover, Justin Gibson, Tommy Peters, Lucus Gibson and Eric Voigt.
Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street, (334) 793-3003, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Glover was always a wonderful patient and I will miss his humor and wit-he was never difficult to manage and always had a smile for me, usually followed by his hearty laugh. During his many hours as my patient, I learned of several aquaintances in common through his many years of truck driving; he was truly a blessed man and was incredibly strong. I thank God that he didn't suffer a prolonged illness and got to go home and be with his family before he died.

How my heart hurts with you in the loss of your father. I know you have wonderful memories of him that will carry you through your life,cling to them and share them with your children often so his legacy will live on. You have been in my prayers for the past few days, since Ashley called to tell me the news of his sickness and then of his passing. I will continue to lift your family up to our heavenly father, who is the comforter of all. Please know that I am here if I can do anything.
