Robert Edwards Obituary
Royal Oak - Robert Lowell Edwards, age 60, of Royal Oak, died suddenly January 17, 2018. Artist, filmmaker, mid-century design enthusiast, automotive concept art historian and humble man. Survived by his wife, Julie Hyde-Edwards; siblings, Darrell (Jackie), Ted, Bill (Maggie), Susan, John (Arlene), Tim (Bonnie) and Rhonda; sister-in-law, Pam; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Sally (Ritchie) and Bill of Perry County, KY; and siblings, Roy, Mary, Larry and Jake. Madison High School 1975; College for Creative Studies 1979. Memorial service Sunday, February 25, 2018, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the Detroit Institute of Arts - Lecture Hall, 5200 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI 48202. Arrangements by Wm. I am very saddened to just hear of Robert's passing. My heartfelt condolence's and prayers go out to Julie, and his family. I will definitely be at his memorial on Feb 25th. I met Robert at the Bill Brownlie estate auction. I had purchased most of the Brownlie artwork. Robert had purchased some also. Robert came up to me and introduced himself and gave me his card. He told me about how he wants to do a movie on the auto designers and wanted to know why I had purchased so much. I was very impressed with him and his passion about the artwork, we became friends. I told him I am a big Chrysler Car collector and Mr. Brownlie was their Chief designer . There were drawings and paintings that are very unique. He came over several times going over my artwork at my house. He knew a lot of the designers signatures on the artwork I have. The best was yet to come with my relationship with Robert when I had come across the Duane "Sparky" Bohnstedt Corvette concept artwork from the mid 50's and the Mobil-E artwork. He was elated to see it and I am glad he talked me into selling them to him. I was very elated when He invited me to the Scarab Club last year for the Unveiling of his book and that the Bohnstedt painting I sold him was on the back cover of the book and the hit of the show. I am sorely going to miss our conversations and companionship and I am so glad God made our paths cross in thisshort lifetime. I truly hope your movie gets finished. I am sure in heaven you are having some great conversations with the old great designers. You truly are one of a kind.

Being his brother was a great joy in my life because of his creativity, enthusiasm for life, and fertile imagination for all things. May God (Krishna) bless his attempts to make the world a better place. And may our love for him carry him to higher destinations in our journey to eternal life. Just as the soul never dies, his art and love for beauty will never die. Thank you, little brother, for the brief and wonderful years together.

So sorry to hear of Robert's passing...we had only met once but I was an enthusiastic supporter of American Dreaming' and Automobile Concept Art in General. His passion drove my passion. He will be missed by many but will not be forgotten. Rip..the World Was a Better place with you in it. We come and go through other people's lives for various reasons-I know why I met Robert, and I'm glad I did.
