Mrs. Read, Alice and Family--I was truly saddened to learn about Mr. Read's passing. Not only did I know him as Alice's warm and welcoming dad, but I had the privilege of working with him at TA Chapman where he was a revered and well-liked leader. He was always friendly, engaging and witty. He was interested in people's lives while maintaining professional dignity. He was truly a gentleman and a distinguished citizen. Milwaukee will him. All my best--Andrea

To the Read family, I worked at T.A.Chapmans while going to Marquette and Mr. Read was a terrific employer and gentleman. Not long after I was able to work with him as Alderman for downtown. He was without pretension and always intrested in the greater good. Sorry for your troubles.

Dear Marion,
I was sorry to hear of Vern's passing. He will be missed by a great many of us who knew him. To have been included on the climb on Manaslu was a high point for me and I thank you both for allowing me to be part of it. Vern had more accomplishments than I was aware of and I ejoyed finding our more about a man I admired so much. You and your children have my sincerest condolances.

I remember Mr. Read talking of his adventures during the morning coffee get together in the Tea Room at Chapmans. I was quite amazed when he told me about the bats in the walls and how they kept the mosquito population minimalistic in the house. Great Life Mr. Read - Godspeed.

Katy and I celebrate the life of Verne... a true gentleman with a huge zest for life....and all its challenges/opportunities.

Marion was ALWAYS right there with him...be it skiing or tennis, welcoming a New Zealand Rotary exchange student into the Read family, or energizing an exciting new concept needed somewhere.

We give thanks to Verne for providing a super exdmple of a "life well lived."

I am forever indebted to Mr. Read for donating the funds necessary for the Department of Neurology at Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin to create a position for me as the Parkinson's Program Coordinator. Each year, Verne was delighted to hear how the program was growing. He supported & encouraged me in my work. I continue to be happy and productive here and often silently thank Verne for his confidence in me. Now I am thanking him out loud. THANK YOU!

I just heard the very sad news about the passing of Mr. Read.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss.

He was an amazing man and I consider it an honor to have known him.

This summer when I last saw him while shooting workout videos at the lake, I was so impressed to see he still had remarkable wit and charm.

More impressive was the obvious deep love shared between he and Mrs. Reed after all these years.

Naomi and I wish you all the best during this tough time.

Love,
BJ
